Raising awareness for men’s mental health and promoting men’s mental strength through action, challenge and community.
Read JP’s Recovery Story Get InvolvedAfter recovering from Guillain-Barré Syndrome, JP McCormack turned a life-changing experience into Brave Men Take Action — a growing international movement built around men’s mental health, resilience, discipline and community.
In June 2025, JP was admitted to intensive care after being diagnosed with Guillain-Barré Syndrome, a rare neurological condition that left him facing paralysis and an uncertain future. Doctors warned that recovery could take many months, and in some cases years.
What followed was a remarkable journey of rehabilitation, determination and resilience. Within just 90 days, JP had progressed from hospital care to walking, training and rebuilding his life.
During that recovery process, one message became increasingly clear: men need stronger support networks, healthier outlets and more opportunities to talk openly about the challenges they face. Brave Men Take Action was born from that belief.
Encouraging open conversations, reducing stigma and helping men realise they do not have to face challenges alone.
Promoting discipline, resilience, challenge and personal growth through positive action and shared experiences.
Building a worldwide network of men who support one another through movement, conversation, accountability and friendship.
Brave Men Take Action now runs monthly hikes in Portugal and two locations in Ireland, with more locations being planned internationally.
These hikes are designed to create space for movement, conversation, accountability and connection — simple actions that can make a real difference. Every hike is built around community, support and the belief that no man should have to face life’s challenges alone.
Brave Men Take Action is proudly supported by Springvale Estates and international sneaker brand Barebarics, helping the movement grow across multiple locations while raising awareness for men’s mental health and promoting positive action.

Long before Brave Men Take Action was founded, charity work, fundraising and community initiatives had already become an important part of JP’s personal and professional journey.
JP previously served as the Central London Charity Ambassador for one of London’s largest estate agencies, KFH (Kinleigh Folkard & Hayward), helping support charitable initiatives and community engagement across the business.
Over the years he has taken part in numerous fundraising events including multiple 5km and 10km charity runs, the famous London–Surrey 100 Mile Bike Ride and the annual Christmas Toy Run he organised for Evelina Children’s Hospital in London.
Brave Men Take Action represents the latest chapter in that journey — combining personal recovery, community spirit and a commitment to helping men become stronger, healthier and more connected.
What started as one man’s recovery journey has grown into an international movement. Whether you would like to join a hike, support the initiative, become a sponsor or launch a Brave Men Take Action group in your own area, we would love to hear from you.
